A TEENAGE drug dealer has been remanded in custody after he was caught taking £16,000 of cocaine with him on a bus.

Ashawn Studholme was stopped by police after he had travelled overnight on a bus from London to Edinburgh with a large consignment of the Class A drug.

After he alighted from the bus, officers arrested the 19-year-old at about 8am on December 31 last year.

Edinburgh Sheriff Court was told that Studholme, who was living in Musselburgh at the time, appeared “extremely nervous” while speaking to police and he was taken to St Leonard’s Police Station for questioning.

It was found that the bag the teenager was carrying held a total of 125 grams of cocaine, valued at £16,000.

He also had a quantity of cash and a mobile phone.

The court was told that the phone was later analysed and was found to have “information on there Mr Studholme was involved in the supply of cocaine”.

The dealer’s lawyer said that his client was currently serving a 15-month prison sentence for an analogous offence.

Sheriff Kevin McCarron deferred sentence on Studholme to next month for background reports to be prepared and remanded him in custody meantime during last Thursday’s hearing.

Studholme, c/o HMP and YOI Polmont, pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of cocaine at Edinburgh Bus Station between June 1 and December 31, 2023.
