A WARNING has been issued after scam artists got in contact with a county resident about a council tax refund.
East Lothian Council has highlighted the scam and urged residents to be aware of people getting in contact and asking for bank details.
They said: “Unfortunately, we’re aware of a local resident who has been e-mailed by a third party about a council tax refund.
“This is a scam.
“Don’t click on any links or provide bank details to unknown texts, e-mails or phone callers.”
