BORN in Dunbar in 1838, John Muir became known as the "Father of the National Parks" in his adopted home, the USA.
There, the naturalist and author's activism helped to preserve the Yosemite Valley and Sequoia National Park, and his heritage and love of nature live on in the museum at his birthplace on Dunbar High Street.
We share images of the celebrations of the 150th anniversary of his birth, and also of the unveiling of his statue in 1997.
Do you recognise any of the children in 19th-century costume?
