A WALLYFORD motorist has been banned from the road after he was caught driving while serving a ban.

Harrison Burke was spotted behind the wheel of a vehicle on roads in Musselburgh in July last year after he had previously been handed a driving ban for a separate offence.

When the 29-year-old was stopped by police, it was found that, due to his ban, he had no valid insurance and, following a search, officers discovered he was in possession of a quantity of cannabis.

Burke, of Park Drive, was arrested and charged, and he appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court in May, where he pleaded guilty to all three offences.

Sentence was deferred for social work reports to last week and the offender returned to the dock last Wednesday.

Sheriff John Cook sentenced Burke to serve a 14-month driving ban and fined him £500.

Burke pleaded guilty to driving a vehicle at Pinkie Road and Macbeth Moir Road in Musselburgh, and Park Drive in Wallyford, while disqualified on July 30 last year.

He also admitted to having no insurance and possessing cannabis on the same date.
