A CELEBRATION of Dunbar Harbour and those who work and live there is under way.
The north wall of the Victoria Harbour has been turned into an outdoor exhibition space.
Jay Kirkland’s exhibition, All Weathers, was launched on July 6 and will remain in place throughout the summer and autumn.
A spokesperson for the exhibition said: “The artwork is funded by Dunbar Harbour Trust using a Crown Estate grant awarded to enhance visitor education and experience at the harbour.
“Increasingly frequent, devastating storms take a toll on Dunbar’s historic harbours.
“The harbour walls and the boats and homes they shelter are still recovering from the particularly hard winter of 2023/24.
“Dunbar Harbour Trust has recently completed a range of remedial and maintenance work to preserve the harbour infrastructure.
“Throughout the poor weather, Dunbar’s fishing boats have taken shelter in the old Cromwell Harbour and fishing income in winter months was minimal.
“This combined with the loss of fishing equipment to the stormy seas has stretched fishermen and their families to the limit.”
The Dunbar artist’s work aims to reflect the textures, colours and graphic shapes associated with the harbour and its people.
The 10 panels chosen are created from phone camera pictures she took throughout the winter and spring. They are printed on weatherproofed aluminium and bolted onto wooden boards.
