ACTIVITIES ranging from pony rides and climbing walls to archery and face-painting have been enjoyed by more than 700 youngsters.
Girlguiding East Lothian once again welcomed members from across the county for ‘Festival in a Field’, which took place over two days recently.
The event was attended by more than 700 members from ages four and up, including Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Rangers and adult volunteers.
The two-day event, which took place near Haddington, aims to be fun, creative and an accessible way to bring various activities and a festival-style experience to the local Girlguiding county.
Festival in a Field offered a wide range of activities and workshops for all ages, including segways, archery, pony rides, bungee trampolines, climbing walls, inflatables, mini quad bikes, a driving experience, facepainting and an assortment of crafts and fun workshops.
There was also the option for day passes, as well as camping options for Brownies and above.
A spokesperson for the event told the Courier: “In the evening, activities for campers included delicious homemade pizzas (over 300) with the help of friends and family and eight Ooni pizza ovens, and live music from a local band The Klones.
“This event was once again a great way to bring the Girlguiding East Lothian county community together for a unique experience that has quickly become the key calendar event in the year!
“Without volunteers, events like this would not be possible and the county encourages anyone who would like to volunteer with Girlguiding to get in touch via their website girlguidingeastlothian.org
“There are roles to suit any time commitment or skillset and it’s fun too, see their social media.”
The event was made possible through volunteers, sponsorship (from Seacliff Haulage, Had Fab, Anderson and Sons, James River, Kitchens by Coast and Aberdein Considine) and with the help of a local farmer who provided a space for the girls to use.
Girlguiding East Lothian, part of Girlguiding Scotland, provides a space for girls to feel safe and accepted, find new friendships, explore and confront the things that hold them back, and have fun doing things they have not tried before.
