A CHURCH’S plans for a house on a vacant piece of land in Prestonpans have drawn an objection from the town’s community council due to a lack of information.
Prestongrange Parish Church recently lodged a planning application with East Lothian Council to build a detached house on a piece of land it owns to the rear of Lighthouse Central Church off Orchard Crescent, between the place of worship and 20 Orchard Crescent.
Prestonpans Community Council has now objected to the plans because of an alleged lack of information provided in the application.
The application was submitted by Jane Hepburn, session clerk at Prestongrange, with Tod & Taylor Architects acting as the agents.
A design statement included with the application says: “We believe that a small detached house on this site, will fit in with [planning] policies.
“This plot is in a predominantly residential area.
“The proposed two-bedroom house has been designed to fit in with this character.”
DJ Johnston-Smith, community council chairman, said: “We have objected to this application in principle due to the lack of information that the applicant has provided in the East Lothian Council Planning Portal.”
The plans include, a kitchen/living room and a walk-in shower room on the ground floor, with the two bedrooms and a toilet area on the first-floor.
