A COUNTRY-CROSSING gran has raised nearly £1,000 by visiting Scotland’s museums, galleries and heritage properties.
Karen Bernard stopped off at the National Museum of Flight at East Fortune as part of her 101 cultural experiences.
The gran, from Oban, decided to take on the challenge in the year before her 80th birthday and to raise money for Alzheimer Scotland.
Ian Brown, curator of the museum, gave a behind-the-scenes tour to Karen and her three adult grandchildren, who travelled from across the UK to spend the afternoon with their gran.
The gran said: “We appreciated the ‘behind-the-scenes tour’ and Ian is an excellent guide.
“His knowledge is staggering and we all learned from his expertise.
“Cafe lunch was enjoyable and the sun shone all day.”
The National Museum of Flight is open every day this summer and visitors can see iconic aircraft such as a Red Arrows Hawk and Scotland’s Concorde, which is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its arrival at the museum, while families can also visit the Fantastic Flight gallery with its interactive displays.
