A TRANENT driver has pleaded guilty to causing serious injury to a man in a crash after he overtook a lorry on a blind bend.
Callum McNeill was driving his vehicle on the B1377 road between Longniddry and East Linton when he carried out the dangerous manoeuvre.
McNeill, 32, drove at excessive speed, crossed over onto the opposite carriageway and attempted to overtake the truck on a blind bend when it was not safe to do so.
His driving caused another vehicle to take evasive action to avoid a collision and McNeill subsequently lost control of his vehicle and struck a tree after leaving the road on March 20 last year.
McNeill, of Kennedy Crescent, pleaded guilty to a charge of causing serious injury by dangerous driving during an appearance at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Tuesday.
No narration of the details of the incident were read out in open court and a proof of mitigation hearing was set down for next month for one aspect of the case to be examined more closely.
