A DUNBAR man has been ordered to attend sessions with a domestic abuse organisation after he assaulted his partner.

Liam Turner, 21, attacked the woman by pushing her up against a wall and proceeding to kick and punch her on the body.

Turner also spat at the woman during the incident at an address in Penicuik, Midlothian on January 19.

He appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court in February to admit his guilt to the offence and sentence was deferred for social work reports to be prepared.

Turner, of Wingate Crescent, subsequently failed to show up for a court hearing and sentence had been deferred further to last week.

Sheriff John Cook imposed a community payback order on Turner where he will be under the supervision of the social work department for the next 24 months.

Turner was also told he must comply with a conduct requirement where he will have to attend appointments with the Caledonian Men's Programme in a bid to address his domestic offending.
