A TRANENT man has been told he will be confined to his home address overnight for the next three months after he admitted an assault charge.

Ben Hastie attacked Daniel McNeill by punching him to the head to his injury during an incident on North High Street, Musselburgh, in May 2022.

The 23-year-old pleaded guilty to the assault during an appearance at Edinburgh Sheriff Court earlier this year and sentence was deferred for reports.

Hastie, of Morrison Avenue, was not present for a sentencing diet in April and sentence was further deferred to Monday.

Sheriff John Cook sentenced Hastie to a restriction of liberty order that will see him electronically tagged and will keep him at his home between the hours of 8pm and 7am every night for the next three months.

Hastie pleaded guilty to assaulting Mr McNeill by punching him to the head to his injury on May 28, 2022.
