P7 PUPILS, staff and parents from Preston Tower Primary School in Prestonpans took part in a 5km run in fancy dress to raise funds for the school.
Participants gathered at Meadowmill Sports Centre recently to take on the run. Runners donned a range of colourful costumes for the event, ranging from aliens, hot dogs and bananas to dinosaurs and even Darth Vader as they took on the challenge.
In total, more than £900 was raised for the school, which went towards end-of-year celebrations for pupils. Tim Wallace, headteacher at the school, said: “All pupils did exceptionally well, with this being the longest run many of them had ever done, and demonstrated fantastic determination and kindness in their running and cheering.
“Crowds of parents were also drawn to the event to help marshal the route and provide some much-needed support.
“Primary seven were aiming to raise money to go towards their end-of-year celebrations, including yearbooks, trips and other treats.
“Thanks to lots of kind donations from family and friends, the original target has been smashed and a whopping amount of over £900 was raised.
“Overall, the fun run was a brilliant display of togetherness from all participants and spectators, and we are all exceptionally proud of our pupils – a massive well done to all.”
