THE Brunton Performing Arts Network will host five sessions for young people to take part in over the course of this month.

Taking place between July 15 and 26, the sessions are designed to explore participants’ creativity and help them learn new skills, while covering a diverse range of artistic disciplines.

Each group is run by experienced and qualified professionals who work as freelance performance artists.

The summer arts drama camp for those aged 12-16 will be held in Dunbar on July 15 and 16 from 10am to 2pm. These classes aim to boost confidence in public speaking and performance through a range of drama games and activities.

A three-day dance camp takes place in Aberlady for young people aged five to 12, running from July 17 to 19 between 10am and 1pm. The camp will feature energetic activities including movement-based games and dance technique sessions. Participants will then learn street dance routines set to popular music from TikTok’s current chart-toppers.

A drama workshop for older children, aged 12-18, will craft ideas for upcoming play ‘The Herring Song’, set to be performed for the local community next year. Taking place on July 18 from 10am to 2pm, participants will explore the history of East Lothian’s fishing community, spanning several centuries, and uncover its connection to the present-day community through drama games and activities.

Finally, the summer arts programme will host two five-day drama development camps in Dunbar (ages 7-14) and Fisherrow (ages 7-16). These camps are designed for young people looking to enhance their confidence and improve their acting abilities. At the end of the week, there will be a small performance to showcase what they have been up to.

Both camps will take place from July 22 to 26, between 10am and 1pm every day.

The Brunton Performing Arts Network is dedicated to promoting the arts within East Lothian. Its goal is to provide accessible and high-quality arts education and performance opportunities for young people aged five to 18.
