EVERYONE is welcome at North Berwick RNLI’s open day on Sunday as the team celebrates the institution’s 200th anniversary – and the arrival of its new lifeboat.
The fundraising day’s events kick off from 11am and attendees will be spoilt for choice, with a range of activities taking place at North Berwick Harbour.
People will be able to climb aboard the brand-new lifeboat, explore the boathouse and meet the crew.
Ricky Martin, lifeboat operations manager, said: “The North Berwick Lifeboat open day is one of our biggest fundraisers but, more importantly, is a chance to open up the boathouse doors and show the community what their support helps us do.
“This year is slightly different. Not only is the RNLI celebrating 200 years as a charity, but we will have just named our brand new lifeboat the day before the open day.
“We’ll have fundraising and game stalls as well as live music, safety education and a chance to climb aboard the new lifeboat, which will be saving lives here in North Berwick for the next 10 years.”
A raffle will also be held, with attendees having the chance to win tickets to the Scottish Open, a family day out at Foxlake, tickets for Sula boat trips and more.
On Saturday at 3pm, the North Berwick RNLI team will have a ceremony to name their new lifeboat.
Raffle tickets are £1 each or £5 for a book of six, and are available from the lifeboat shop – open seven days a week, 10am-5pm – from crew members or on the day.
The raffle draw takes place at 3.30pm on Sunday on Anchor Green.
