THE Scottish Diaspora Tapestry is celebrating its 10-year anniversary by going on a summer safari across East Lothian.
It was first showcased at Prestonpans Community Centre for a week in May 2014.
The tapestry was designed by Cockenzie artist Andrew Crummy and, after its unveiling, toured the world for nearly two years, with exhibitions across Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Canada.
Now, after returning from its global tour, this year the tapestry will travel round East Lothian in July and August.
Some 17 venues, including the Prestoungrange Gothenburg, libraries and museums, will mount displays, with visitors invited to download their “safari passport” and visit as many as they can to earn a rubberstamp.
Along with the celebrations, there will also be a 10th anniversary launch, as well as a passport holders’ reunion gathering in late August in Prestonpans Town Hall.
More details on the tour will follow, with keen enthusiasts told to keep an eye on the Scottish Diaspora Tapestry website at scottishdiasporatapestry.org
