BELHAVEN Bay has been named as one of the best places in the UK to enjoy a seaside picnic.
The Times named seven scenic spots to enjoy some sandwiches and relaxation and featured the county beauty spot at number two.
It describes Belhaven as “an extraordinary and empty expanse, backed by tufty, untamed sand dunes, where the sea meets the sky”.
The short write up suggests popping into Belhaven Smokehouse for smoked salmon sandwiches or mackerel pate.
It reads: “There are benches with sea views behind the dunes but we suggest you stake out a spot by the shore and revel in the remoteness.”
Whitstable Bay in Kent is named top of the list while Pembrokeshire’s West Angle Bay rounds off the top three.
