A DOG grooming business could be created in the garage of a family home in Pencaitland.
Plans to convert a garage on the village’s Lamberton Court have been lodged with East Lothian Council’s planning department.
The garage would be accessed through double doors and not the existing house. A planning statement included with the application from Phillipa Headley and Tom Harley notes: “Until recently there were two other dog groomers in Pencaitland.
“Both have stopped providing dog grooming and there is a demand for a local service. “During the recent Covid-19 lockdown, dog ownership increased and, with this, the demand for dog grooming.
“The proposal is to provide dog grooming services on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday mornings. “The operating hours will be 9am-3pm, or 9am-noon when mornings only.”
The applicant expected between three and five dogs to be groomed over a full day and up to three in the morning.
