YOGA, photography, music and taking the plunge at Foxlake Adventures have all helped highlight the contribution of carers.

Carers of East Lothian put together a week of varied activities during Carers Week earlier this month.

The programme acknowledged the efforts of unpaid carers and offered them an enjoyable break.

Carers Week is a UK-wide awareness campaign seeking to increase visibility for carers with decision makers, services, employers, communities and businesses.

In East Lothian, where there are an estimated 20,000 unpaid carers, activities included a hanging basket-building session at Amisfield Walled Garden, attended by carers from CoEL and carers supported by Milan (an organisation supporting South Asian carers), with all materials donated by East Lothian Council plant nursery; a drumming workshop; an afternoon of music at North Berwick RFC; laughter yoga; and outdoor activities at Foxlake Adventures. Carers also contributed to artworks and a photography exhibition hosted at East Lothian Community Hospital and The Fraser Centre, in Tranent.
