A 78-YEAR-OLD driver has died in a car crash in East Lothian.

On Thursday afternoon, police were called to reports of a single-vehicle crash on the B1345 near Fenton Barns at 3.50pm.

The 78-year-old male driver of the vehicle, a silver Volvo S90, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed for five hours.

Police Scotland are now making investigations into the circumstances of the crash.

Police are requesting any drivers with dash-cam footage to get in touch, along with people who stopped at the collision.

Road Policing Sergeant Jamie Humpage said: “Our enquiries are continuing into the circumstances of this collision and we will continue to support the man's family.

“I would ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or who may have dash-cam footage, and has not yet spoken to or provided this information to officers, to contact us as soon as possible.

"In particular, we would ask that the members of the public who stopped at the collision to offer the man assistance please get in touch with us."
