THE Haddington Show returns on Saturday, with entertainment including a dog show, horse displays and pipe band.

The event, which dates back to 1804 and is one of the oldest agricultural shows in Scotland, was missing from the calendar for two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic but has returned to being held annually since it made its comeback in 2022.

This year, thousands of visitors are again expected to head to East Fortune to enjoy its many attractions.

Animal and produce displays take place throughout the day, alongside various attractions and exhibitions for families.

Caroline Tait, chairperson of organisers the United East Lothian Agricultural Society, is excited about what this year’s event has to offer.

She said: “We’ve got a full main ring entertainment going on.

“We’ve got the Lammermuir Gundogs coming to do a demonstration, and then in the afternoon we will have a horse display.

“Then we’ve got the vintage tractor parade, which is always really nice to watch.

“There will be so many fantastic food vendors too.”

Children are also catered for at the show with an activity tent and events including face painting and a fancy dress competition.

Caroline added: “There are so many agricultural exhibitors so people can see the machinery that’s used for farming in the modern world.

“It’s good for the public to see a different perspective on the farming side of life.”

A free bus service is again running to and from the showground – one route connects the site with Haddington, the other with Dunbar and East Linton. See the show’s website for a full timetable and details of the stop.
