AN EAST Lothian resident has been left frustrated with a council waste disposable vehicle dubbed the "T-Rex bin lorry" because of the loud roaring noise it has been making.

According to Zoe Montgomery, a Prestonpans resident, the issue has been going on for months.

The Courier contacted the council about the issue today and has now been assured that the problem has been fixed.

Zoe had told the Courier that the noise could be heard from "miles around", petrifying her two children.

Video footage captured by Zoe, shared with the Courier, was taken at 9.15am on Wednesday on the town's Nethershot Road.

An incredibly high-pitch groaning sound can be heard on the video, reminiscent of the roaring noise made by the T-Rex in the movie Jurassic Park.

Zoe said: "You would think with all of the council tax we pay, they would sort out their T-Rex bin lorry.

"It can be heard from miles around.

"If you were visiting, you would think we live in Jurassic Park!

"It's bad, isn't it? It has been like that for months, my two-year-old is petrified when it comes."

An East Lothian Council spokesperson said: “It was recently identified that one of our garden waste trucks had some material trapped in the packing mechanism, which might have produced more noise than normal.

"This issue has since been rectified.

"We are grateful to residents for their patience and understanding, and apologise for any inconvenience this caused.”
