TWO male youths have been arrested after police were called to Tranent on Saturday amid concerns that a firearm was being discharged.

Following a large police presence in The Heugh area of the town on Saturday, two 14-year-olds have been charged in connection with the incident.

Police were called at 8pm and were seen stationed on Blawearie Road.

There was no injuries sustained in relation to the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8pm on Saturday, June 22, we were called to a report of a potential firearm being discharged in The Heugh area of Tranent.

“Officers attended, there were no reports of injuries and an air weapon was recovered.

"Two 14-year-old males were charged in connection with the incident and a report will be submitted to the relevant authorities.”
