SEVERAL trains scheduled to run between East Lothian and Edinburgh today have been cancelled due to lack of staff.

Train operator ScotRail has issued alerts for trains travelling to or from the city on Monday, June 24.

Four of this afternoon's train journeys – the 1.41pm and 7.40pm from Edinburgh to North Berwick, and the 2.22pm and 8.17pm from North Berwick to Edinburgh – have been cancelled "due to a shortage of train crew".

Phil Campbell, ScotRail customer operations director, said: “We are absolutely committed to delivering the best possible service for customers throughout the country, and everyone at ScotRail is working hard to improve performance across the network.

“We know how frustrating it is when delays or cancellations occur, and when that does happen, anyone delayed by 30 minutes or more is entitled to compensation through our Delay Repay Guarantee, and can claim on the ScotRail website or mobile app.”

The latest cancellations come after four other services due to travel through the county were cancelled on Friday, also as a result of a shortage of staff.
