POLITICIANS hoping to become the first ever Lothian East MP will face tough questions on Tuesday.
Residents throughout the county will go to the polls on July 4 to select who will represent them at Westminster.
A hustings event is being organised in Humbie Village Hall, with each of the seven candidates – Douglas Alexander (Labour), Robert Davies (Reform UK), Duncan Dunlop (Liberal Democrats), Scott Hamilton (Conservatives), Lyn Jardine (SNP), George Kerevan (ALBA) and Shona McIntosh (Greens) – invited.
Organised by Humbie, East and West Saltoun and Bolton Community Council, the event gets under way at 7.30pm.
A spokesperson for the event confirmed that the hustings would be livestreamed via lammermuirchurch.org/hustings.html
They said: “The format will be opening statements by candidates, then questions which we are asking people to submit in advance by emailing humbiesaltounboltoncc@gmail.com with name and postcode – so we can prioritise questions from people in the local area and Lothian East.”
