THE Scottish Chamber Orchestra will visit Haddington as part of its 45th Scotland-wide summer tour.
The tour, which gets under way next Saturday (June 8), will see the national group perform in places from Thurso and Inverness to Galashiels and Stranraer.
Tchaikovsky Serenade is performed in Haddington’s Corn Exchange on June 28.
A programme to show off the versatility of the string orchestra, in music from Mozart to Webern.
Directed by Scottish Chamber Orchestra leader Stephanie Gonley, it opens with Elgar paying tribute both to the Baroque era and Welsh song, before a lyrical early work by Webern and a sprightly Divertimento by the teenage Mozart.
Richly scored, featuring one of his best-loved waltzes and an impossibly catchy Russian dance to round things off, Tchaikovsky's Serenade is one of the jewels of the string orchestra repertoire.
The concert gets under way at 7.30pm and for more information go to www.sco.org.uk
Gavin Reid, chief executive of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, said: “As we continue to mark our 50th Anniversary this year, we are so excited once again to be off on a tour across the length and breadth of Scotland to share the joy of live music-making.
“With Maxim Emelyanychev and many of our own players at the helm, it’s fitting that our 45th Summer Tour showcases more than ever the sheer range of what the SCO has to offer audiences, wherever and whoever they are.
“We look forward to seeing you there!”
