FOOTBALL fever has arrived at a care home in Dunbar, as residents having been their support for Scotland at Euro 2024.

Residents at Lammermuir House Care Home have been enjoying the build-up to Scotland’s first game against hosts Germany, which kicks off at 8pm this evening.

Residents will be joining in with their own games of ‘Slipper Soccer’, competing with staff members in penalty shootouts and playing score prediction games as they follow all the action throughout the tournament.

Resident Peggy is looking forward to England’s first match against Serbia on Sunday. She said: “I love Scotland and wish them well. Scotland is a very nice country but I’m English, so I’m also hoping England will win.”

The Dunbar care home has a dedicated ‘fan zone’ decorated with bunting, flags and scarves to get everyone in the mood for cheering on their team, and a pop-up pub will serve drinks and snacks.

Alexandra Davies, the care home’s Magic Moments co-ordinator, said: “Football fever has well and truly arrived here at Lammermuir House.

"Everyone is talking about whether their team can go all the way and it’s been lovely listening to our residents’ memories of games they’ve watched over the years.

“We’re looking forward to all being together to support our teams and will no doubt enjoy some banter over VAR decisions!”
