AN AWARD-WINNING charity is looking to offer a range of free activities in Tranent.

East Lothian Play Association (ELPA) is keen to site a container on land between the George Johnstone Centre and nearby Crookston Care Home.

An application, which explains the proposals, has been lodged with East Lothian Council.

It reads: “Following a successful summer of free activities for families in Tranent, ELPA would again like to site a shipping container on the green space between Lindores Drive and George Johnstone Centre.

“We are aware this is council land and seeking permission to site the shipping container as storage and base for children’s play/community activity, all of which is free of charge.

“This storage facility would enable ELPA to offer a wide range of play activities, also to provide seating and shelter, making activities more inclusive and appeal to a wider age range.

“We work in partnership with local organisations to ensure the activities reach a large number of people and to offer a varied, appealing project.”
