FURNITURE created at a world-renowned furniture school has found a home within global clothing retailer’s first Scottish store.
The Chippendale International School of Furniture has partnered with Japanese fashion house UNIQLO.
The interior of the Edinburgh store draws inspiration from local heritage and natural landscapes and features bespoke furniture pieces by Tom Fraser, principal of the school and furniture maker.
Mr Fraser was invited to join UNIQLO’s people campaign as one of a handful of Scottish natives, to shine a light on the diverse talents of Edinburgh's creative community.
His presence can be spotted in campaign collateral – from bus stops to billboards - around the capital.
For the partnership, Mr Fraser was entrusted with creating three bespoke wooden benches for the store’s interior.
Each piece of walnut, oak and cherry wood was carefully selected for its durability, unique colour contrast, texture and overall aesthetic.
"We are thrilled to partner with UNIQLO for the launch of their new Edinburgh store," said Mr Fraser, of the school near Gifford.
"This project allowed us to showcase the timeless beauty of slow fine furniture making while embracing contemporary design principles.
“It has been a truly rewarding experience for our school and students."
The bespoke furniture pieces created by Mr Fraser and the Chippendale School are featured prominently within the UNIQLO Princes Street store.
