A MAN involved in a police chase through the streets of Musselburgh and Prestonpans when already disqualified from driving has been given a further ban from the road.

Daniel Ross was serving the driving ban when he got behind the wheel of a vehicle in Portobello on October 14, 2022.

He then drove dangerously through the streets of Musselburgh and into Prestonpans while the police chased him after they had been alerted to his erratic driving.

The 27-year-old came to a halt at an industrial estate in Prestonpans where he drove through a concrete barrier in an attempt to escape arrest.

Ross, of Salamander Street, Edinburgh, pleaded guilty to the offences when he appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last Thursday.

He also admitted to breaching bail conditions on March 1 last year and to assaulting a police officer by attempting to butt him, attempting to kick him and attempting to bite him at his home on October 21 last year.

Sheriff John Cook placed Ross on a supervision order for 18 months and said he must carry out 210 hours of unpaid work.

Ross was also banned from driving for 20 months and told he must sit and pass the extended driving test before he is allowed back on the road.
