AN EVENT looking at potential changes to roads surrounding Belhaven is unlikely to take place before the General Election.

Discussions regarding the crossroads in Belhaven, linking Shore Road, the A1087 and Beveridge Row, as well as surrounding streets, have been ongoing for a number of years.

A suggestion was made that East Lothian Council planned to host a community consultation event in Dunbar Town House this month.

However, the local authority stressed that no date had been confirmed and instead it would likely be autumn before an event was held.

An East Lothian Council spokesperson said: “We are looking to bring forward options to make it easier to walk and cycle around the Belhaven area in a safe and inclusive way, subject to the availability of external funding.

“We are keen to engage with the community on the potential options.

“Arrangements for this, including holding an event locally, have not yet been confirmed – and no plans for an event in June had been confirmed – but it is likely this will be after the summer holiday period.”
