A TRANENT man has admitted to driving carelessly after he was caught using a mobile phone.
Alexander Gillespie, of Coalgate Avenue, was found to be using the device while driving a motor van on the A1 near to Newcraighall in Musselburgh.
Gillespie failed to keep a proper lookout and travelled in the face of obvious and potential dangers while using the device and driving in August last year.
Gillespie, 53, was fined a total of £280 and had six penalty points placed on his driving licence by Sheriff Charles Walls during a hearing at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last week.
Gillespie pleaded guilty to an amended charge of driving his van when using a mobile phone at the A1 on August 12, 2023.
