TRANENT man Ben Hastie will be sentenced next month after he failed to turn up to court for a sentencing.

Hastie pleaded guilty to an assault charge in January and sentence had been deferred to last month for reports for the accused man to be of good behaviour.

Hastie, of Morrison Crescent, did not show up to Edinburgh Sheriff Court and an invitation warrant was issued for him to come to court of his own volition rather than be arrested.

The 23-year-old did come to court last Monday but Sheriff John Cook was told the previously called for social work reports were not available and sentence was further deferred to June 24.

Hastie had previously pleaded guilty to a charge of assaulting Daniel McNeill by punching him to the head at North High Street, Musselburgh, on May 28, 2022.
