CONTROVERSIAL plans to move East Links Family Park more than seven miles west have been turned down.
East Fortune Holdings Ltd had applied to East Lothian Council for the ‘relocation’ of the popular visitor attraction.
East Links Family Park has been based on the edge of West Barns for more than 20 years.
However, it was revealed that there were plans to open instead at East Fortune Farm.
Planning officials had recommended the scheme be turned down due to concerns centred on traffic issues.
The planning committee met this morning (Tuesday) in Haddington Town House, with discussions taking place over more than 90 minutes.
The decision to back the planning officers’ recommendation to refuse was near unanimous, with nine members of the planning committee agreeing to turn down the scheme and only Councillor Kenny McLeod going against the recommendation.
