Thousands of pounds have been raised for the Beach Wheelchairs charity by the North Berwick Golf Club ladies’ team during their annual fundraiser.

At the event earlier this month, 200 attendees turned up to raise money, with vital funds in the region of £5,840 going towards the worthy cause.

The lady golfers raised money by competing across the Open Greensomes and Wee Course events, despite rather chilly temperatures.

Fiona Maciver, the club ladies captain, said: “A great day where friends and visitors from all over Scotland enjoyed our beautiful links and coastline, helping raise funds for an amazing local charity.

“North Berwick Golf Club is delighted to be supporting Beach Wheelchairs with fundraising events throughout the year.”

Beach Wheelchairs representatives were delighted by the amount of money raised. The charity relies heavily on donations from the local and wider community to provide its service.

Melanie Kay, Beach Wheelchairs vice chair, said: “We are extremely grateful to everybody who took part and contributed to this well-organised event.

“At Beach Wheelchairs we are always looking to see how we can further widen our reach and meet the needs of more customers.

“This money allows us to renew a manual chair and help support the ramp upgrade on the West Beach in North Berwick.”
