AN ISSUE with an online booking system will not delay changes to the times vans and trailers can access East Lothian’s recycling centres.
The vehicles will only be able to attend the sites in North Berwick, Dunbar and at Kinwegar, Wallyford, from 10am to noon from tomorrow (Monday) to dispose of domestic waste and recycling.
The changes were due to come into force at the beginning of the week and the local authority has confirmed this is still the case, despite an IT issue delaying the booking system.
A spokesperson for East Lothian Council said the online booking system would go live when “unforeseen technical challenges are resolved by our external supplier”.
In the meantime, bookings are not required and visitors are reminded that commercial waste is not accepted at any of the three sites.
The council spokesperson advised motorists in vans and with trailers to be on site by 11.45am at the latest to ensure they had time to unload the vehicle.
They said: “An online booking system to manage van and trailer access to our recycling centres has been paused due to technical issues relating to its introduction.
“We are working with our supplier to resolve this.
“In the meantime, bookings will not be required however van or trailer owners should note the new access times that will be in place from Monday, June 3.”
