GOLF and entertainment are being combined to create a tee-riffic time at the Genesis Scottish Open.
The tournament has struck a partnership with Fringe by the Sea to bring Fringe by the Tee pop-up stage to The Renaissance Club for the competition between July 10 and 14.
Fringe by the Tee is set to be the highlight of the 'Fan Zone' at Scotland’s national open, creating a family-friendly experience to complement the world-class golf.
Rory Colville, Genesis Scottish Open championship director, said: “We are delighted to welcome the magic of Fringe by the Sea to the Genesis Scottish Open this summer.
“The tournament is renowned for bringing world-class golf to East Lothian every year, and with the new Fringe by the Tee pop up stage, the experience will be elevated further for fans of all ages.
“It’s a pleasure to partner with another award-winning local event to showcase the best of North Berwick and East Lothian.”
Scottish radio DJ and television presenter Edith Bowman, former professional footballer turned DJ Pat Nevin, Deacon Blues – the only Deacon Blue tribute band hailing from Scotland – and legendary local DJs Kaiser Matt and Miss Mixtape are set to entertain the crowds gathered for the pro-am and four tournament days.
And with Fringe by the Tee also featuring daily Tee Talks with Fred MacAulay, lunchtime Sunday jazz sounds from Jazzmain Quartet and reggae beats courtesy of Messenger Sound System as well as kids activities, there is sure to be something for all the family.
The partnership brings together two award-winning events in one shared space – with the Genesis Scottish Open and Fringe by the Sea named Outstanding Sporting Event and Outstanding Cultural Event or Festival respectively at the 2023 Scottish Thistle Awards.
The 2024 Genesis Scottish Open – co-sanctioned by the DP World Tour and PGA TOUR – will see some of the best players in the world gathering in East Lothian, including defending champion Rory McIlroy, Scottish star Robert MacIntyre and Major winners Xander Schauffele, Matt Fitzpatrick, Justin Rose and Justin Thomas.
Fringe by the Sea is a not for profit 10 day arts festival, with the 2024 edition running from August 2-11 in nearby North Berwick.
Rory Steel, festival director of Fringe By The Sea, said: “The Genesis Scottish Open is a true highlight of the annual golfing calendar, and so we’re thrilled to be part of this year’s showcase.
“Our Fringe by the Tee stage will host more than a little of our festival’s sunshine and goodtime vibes for which we have become well-known in recent years.
“We can’t wait – bring on East Lothian’s summertime.”
