THE asking price to buy a popular hotel at the heart of North Berwick has been significantly reduced.
The four-star Nether Abbey Hotel is owned by Stirling Stewart and wife Jela, and has been a family-run business for more than 60 years.
The Nethers, as it is affectionately known, has 12 en-suite bedrooms overlooking the Firth of Forth and North Berwick West Links, catering for guests from all over the world.
Now, Graham & Sibbald are inviting offers for the hotel, on the town’s Dirleton Avenue, for £1.8 million.
In July last year, the Courier reported that the hotel was on the market for offers over £2.25 million.

The hotel also boasts the Fly Half Bar and Restaurant, which opens onto a patio area that can host up to 70 diners, proving popular with tourists and locals alike.
According to Graham & Sibbald: “The Nether Abbey Hotel, a four-star hotel, has been owned and operated by the same family for over 60-years, has become the 'go-to' North Berwick establishment which welcomes not only repeat local custom but attracts both new and repeat visitors from North America, Europe and the UK.
“Over the last 20 years the sellers have continuously invested into the hotel and it lives up to its four-star status providing a truly first-class visit for its customers.
“The Nether Abbey Hotel has an impressive established local, national and international client base and is truly that of a 'turn-key' business with no immediate improvements required to the hotel but with the potential to develop in future years.”
