The owners of the former County Hotel in North Berwick say they are still committed to a major revamp of the premises.
The County has been empty for five years but there are hopes a recent announcement by Heineken UK could help bring that to an end.
The alcohol giant stated it would be investing £39 million into its Star Pubs chain up and down the country, with the intention of reopening 62 taprooms in the UK this year.
North Berwick: return of long-closed County Hotel mooted
Star Pubs last year announced plans to carry out a major renovation of the former County Hotel, on North Berwick High Street, but no work has yet taken place.
A spokesperson for Star Pubs said: “Subject to recruiting a new operator to lease The County Hotel in North Berwick, we would like to undertake a major refurbishment to reopen it as a top quality pub with a fantastic food, drinks and accommodation offer serving both the local community and visitors to the area.
“The plans would include introducing a delicious, fresh modern food menu catering from brunch to dinner, an extensive range of drinks, and the creation of an all year round garden space with a bar in the existing outbuilding, as well as upgrades to the beer garden.”
