A PORTRAIT of King Charles III will soon find a home in Haddington Day Centre.
Haddington and District Community Council offered to donate the portrait after deciding that it did not have a public venue to house it.
The group did meet in Haddington Town House but, with the venue closed to the public, it now meets in Knox Academy. Members revealed last week that the portrait had now arrived.
A date is being lined up for when it can be handed over to the day centre on Neilson Park Road.
Last year, the Cabinet Office released a new official portrait of the King. Copies of the portrait, which was taken at Windsor Castle last year by photographer Hugo Burnand, will hang in public buildings throughout the UK.
Town, parish and community councils and Ministry of Defence-sponsored cadet forces were offered a copy of the portrait as part of a scheme to celebrate the new reign. The image shows the King wearing a Royal Navy uniform of an Admiral of the Fleet and official medals and decorations.
