LOCAL heroes are being sought as part of a campaign to recognise those who have made a positive difference to the lives of others.

East Lothian MSP Paul McLennan, and South Scotland MSPs Craig Hoy and Martin Whitfield, are all working individually to identify a constituent who will receive recognition for the important work they do to help others in their local community.

Mr McLennan said: “There are so many heroes in East Lothian who give their time and energy to their local community, making a positive contribution to the lives of others – often without recognition. We want to celebrate the achievements of local heroes across every constituency and region in Scotland to mark the significant milestone of the 25th anniversary of the Scottish Parliament, and I’m looking for nominations from folk in East Lothian.”

Mr Hoy added: “I am really looking forward to receiving nominations for our local hero locally, perhaps from their friends, family, or work colleagues, maybe even from potential local heroes themselves.

“If you’ve got a good suggestion, please do nominate them.”

And Mr Whitfield said: “I know many people in East Lothian are committed to giving their time and energy selflessly to their local community.

“I am keen to receive suggestions for a local hero from our area. If you’ve got a good suggestion, please get in touch.”

The selected individuals will join MSPs and other local heroes from across Scotland at a special commemorative event on Saturday, June 29, to mark 25 years of the Scottish Parliament.
