The rebuilding of North Berwick's harbour wall has commenced and the work is "off to a flyer".
A large section of the wall was destroyed during last October's storms and the walkway damaged too. Haddington-based East Coast Masonry has been appointed to carry out the work, which started on Monday.
Iain Trotter, of East Coast Masonry said: "We are really excited to get started and we are off to a flyer."
On the expected timeframe for completion, he added: "It is hard to commit to a time due to the weather: high tides and big waves can really impact our work.
"But we'll keep locals informed on our progress."
The Courier understands that it could take between five and 12 weeks to complete, depending on weather conditions.
County residents can help the rebuild by sending North Berwick Harbour Trust or East Coast Masonry photographs they may have of the wall before it was damaged.
This will help restore it, said Iain, "to its exact original form" and would "help us tremendously in bringing the harbour back to its former glory."
A fundraising campaign by the harbour trust to raise £100,000 to strengthen, repair and secure the harbour from future storm damage has already reached £42,000. To donate, click here.
