HISTORY has been made at one of the world’s oldest golf clubs.
Royal Musselburgh Golf Club dates back to 1774 and is celebrating its 250th year with a series of events throughout the season.
The club, which is also celebrating a century at Prestongrange, has now appointed its first ever female captain.
Pam Hall took on the role having previously been captain of the club’s ladies’ section.
A 19-time ladies’ singles champion, she is also the wife of John Hall, vice-president of Lothians Golf Association.
Steven Gough, immediate past captain at the club, on the outskirts of Prestonpans, felt that it was important the club, which is the sixth oldest in the world, marked the occasion.
A series of tournaments are being held throughout the year.
In July, royal golf clubs from throughout Britain, as well as clubs in the Lothians associated with Royal Musselburgh Golf Club, will be invited to attend a three-day event, including a Champagne reception.
A members’ pack including various mementos of the occasion has also been created.
