A FORMER council housing office in the centre of Dunbar, which has been vacant for more than a decade, has been put on the market.
The basement and ground-floor property on the town’s High Street is being sold by East Lothian Council.
The local authority, which is also looking to sell the two flats above the office, has put the commercial space on the market for offers over £165,000.
Housing office services moved to the town’s Bleachingfield Centre in 2012 and the High Street building has been lying vacant ever since.
Drawings included with the particulars for the commercial premises show three storage areas and a toilet in the basement.
The document notes: “The main office accommodation is on the ground floor. Internally, the office has been finished to a high standard with glass partitioning and frosted panels, suspended ceilings, recessed lights and vertical radiators.
“The ground floor comprises a waiting area, reception counter, three offices, kitchen, W.C., cleaner’s cupboard and storeroom.”
A new boiler was installed in the building last year.
Flats available
Meanwhile, the flats above, 46A and 46B High Street, are also available to buy.
Offers over £185,000 are invited for the first-floor flat, which features three bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen and living room.
The top-floor flat has a similar layout but is for sale at offers over £180,000.
Both properties are described as “bright and spacious” and according to the documents: “Dunbar is a vibrant town and offers an excellent quality of life.
“The High Street offers a wide variety of independent shops, cafes, and restaurants. On the outskirts of Dunbar there is a new development with a large supermarket, garden centre, and fast-food outlet.
“Dunbar is well served with an excellent leisure centre and swimming pool, historic harbour, beautiful beaches and two golf courses.
“The John Muir Country Park is close by and there are many walks available within the surrounding East Lothian countryside. Dunbar benefits from substantial nursery, primary and secondary schools along with private nurseries and the private Belhaven Hill School.”
