A POTENTIALLY life-saving device at an historic estate is out of use after it was damaged.
Newhailes House and Gardens in Musselburgh is a popular destination for residents of the town and visitors.
However, a spokesperson for the venue took to social media this morning (Wednesday) to highlight that a defibrillator had been damaged.
The device applies an electric charge or current to the heart to restore a normal heartbeat.
If the heart rhythm stops due to cardiac arrest, also known as sudden cardiac arrest (SCA), a defibrillator may help it start beating again.
A spokesperson for Newhailes House and Gardens, which is maintained by National Trust for Scotland, confirmed CCTV footage would be passed on to police.
They said: “We have sadly arrived to some damage on the estate this morning.
“Our defibrillator, which was installed for the benefit of the whole community, has been damaged along with the shed it is attached to.
“The defibrillator is now out of use until it can be repaired, which is costly.
“We have CCTV which we are passing on to the police, but we would ask if anyone has any information, they please get in touch with us.”
