A defibrillator which is believed to have been stolen after use on Tranent High Street is set to be replaced.
The defibrillator, provided by Tranent Belters, was last used on November 21 last year and was never returned.
Members of the social and charity club reported the device as stolen to police in January, but it has yet to be found.
Now members say they will have to use club funds to replace the life-saving piece of equipment. A spokesperson for the group said: “The defibrillator that was last used on November 21 outside East Coast Carpets is still missing.
"We have searched high and low for it. We have been all around the Scottish Ambulance depots and reported to the police. The only information we have is that it’s in someone’s house and they won’t return the defibrillator.
"It now looks like we are very unlikely to see it being returned, leaving us the only option which is to go and buy a new one.
"The Belters are very fortunate at the moment – we have the funds in place to buy a new defibrillator.
"Hopefully we should have this replacement back outside East Coast Carpets on Tranent High Street in the very near future.”
