Work being carried out later in the evenings by Inch Cape Offshore Limited (ICOL) at the site of the former Cockenzie Power Station will not significantly impact residents, the company has pledged.
ICOL has applied for permission to extend the working hours in the area today (Monday), Wednesday and Thursday beyond 7pm to allow "concrete pours" to be completed.
Initial groundworks were completed at the site in December, and the current phase of work will see the creation of further drainage at the site, laying of concrete bases, construction of internal roads and bunds, landscaping, and the erection of steel-framed buildings.
Concerns had been raised by Prestonpans Community Council that there would be additional noise as a result of extended works.
But a ICOL spokesperson said that while work is expected to continue beyond 7pm on some days this should not cause any additional noise.

A spokesperson for ICOL said in a statement: “ICOL has applied for permission to extend the working hours at the Cockenzie Substation Site to allow concrete pours to be able to be completed on the same day.
"Dates at present are as follows: Monday, April 22 for concreting (unlikely to go beyond 7pm but it potentially could); Wednesday April 24 for concreting (potential to go beyond 7pm); Thursday April 25 for potential concreting where pour does not proceed on April 24 (potential working beyond 7pm).
“Any activities beyond 7pm should only be concrete finishing work which does not require the use of any mobile plant; the finishing work only requires the use of a petrol-powered beam screeder or similar.
“Should you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to contact ICOL direct by email at info@inchcapewind.co.uk "
