OBSTACLES ranging from the ‘car wash’ and ‘Tarzan swing’ to the ‘cha cha slide’ and ‘hanging tyres’ could be created on a brand new assault course.
The ambitious plans would transform a section of the former golf course at Whitekirk Hill.
An axe throwing area and Airsoft gun range are also planned, though the applicants stressed that "robust" risk assessments had been carried out.
Scott Smith, co-owner of Wild Cairns, who are behind the plans, was excited about the scheme and hopeful that visitors could be tackling the course later this summer.
He said: “We are planning on building an assault course, approximately one mile long, with about 30 different obstacles where our instructors will take groups of people round the course.
“Kids from eight years old and upwards and adults, we will take them round the course and show them how to do the obstacles safely.
“There would be walls to climb over, ramps to run up, tyre swings to swing from tyre to tyre, and some muddy obstacles too.
“We can make it as difficult or easy as people want it.
“We could have fitness groups there. We could have football teams or rugby teams there for pre-season and add in additional exercises to get the full benefit out of what we are going to be offering.”
A planning application, featuring more than 35 drawings, is currently with East Lothian Council’s planning department.
Among the drawings are plans an axe throwing area and a gun range.
Mr Smith stressed safety was a priority in both, with "robust" risk assessments carried out.
He added: “We are planning on building an Airsoft gun range there, which would be an enclosed area for kids from eight upwards for Airsoft guns and targets shaped like zombies.”

The assault course would mark the latest development on the site.
A golf club opened at Whitekirk Hill in 1995 and planning permission was later given to expand the facility.
Those proposals included a 100-bed hotel, a new clubhouse and a second course, along with 21 lodges and 42 homes.
However, those proposals never got off the ground.
Instead, luxury lodges were created alongside a place for “delicious brunches and lunches”, spa and leisure facilities, and a children’s play area.
Now, Mr Smith, who was hopeful that between six and 10 jobs could eventually be created, was keen add to the attraction.

He said: “We would love to be open by the beginning of July.
“We would love to have a summer at it and see just how busy we can get there. It would be amazing to do that.
“The footfall at Whitekirk Hill is amazing.
“We have been there on several occasions and the team there do a fantastic job attracting a lot of different people.
“We want to try to embellish that – with existing customers and bring new customers to Whitekirk Hill.”
