TENS of thousands of pounds have been shared between more than a dozen community groups.
Organisations including Dunbar Grammar School, Dunbar Against Litter, Belhaven Church and Sparkling Dunbar have benefited from the generosity of Dunbar Community Council.
Alasdair Swan, treasurer of the group, highlighted that £11,188 had been allocated through the local priorities fund, with a further £84,755.91 being granted through a separate community benefits fund over the course of the financial year.
Nearly £35,000 from the community benefits fund came from reserves being built up over previous years.
Mr Swan said: “The local priorities fund is something just over £10,000 that we get every year and we gave away a little more than we had because we had a carry over from previous years.
“With the community benefits fund, we get two lots of £25,000 during the year from Community Windpower Ltd.
“Every six months, we get £25,000 – £12,500 can be spent on projects greater than £2,500 and the other £12,500 on projects worth less than £2,500.
“The logic in putting that restriction on was it makes sure we support lots of organisations in Dunbar, rather than just a few great big grants.”
