A town bakery, which has been in operation for less than a year, is set to close.
Allan’s Bakery on Tranent High Street opened in August last year by baking brothers Allan and Chris Shaw.
He brothers, who also operate a shop on Restalrig Road in Edinburgh, moved into the site of the former Nettie’s bakery.
Supplying baked goods to local customers as well as to various businesses, the brothers also supplied goods to Nettie’s prior to the business closing last year.
At the time, Allan told the Courier that the chance to move into the premises “just felt like the right time”, with brother Chris already living in the town.

However, after less than a year of operating in the town, the brothers have made the “difficult decision” to close the branch.
The bakery will remain open until a new tenant is found for the premises.
In a statement on social media, they said: “After much consideration, we have made the difficult decision to close the Allan’s Bakery, Tranent.
“Circumstances beyond our control have left us with no other option.
“There is a to let sign now above the shop, however we will continue trading until a new tenant is found. You can still place orders and buy from the shop.
“We greatly appreciate the support and custom from the people of Tranent.”
