A GROUP set up to tackle loneliness by bringing people together round the dinner table has celebrated its sixth birthday.
Our Community Kitchen has been welcoming dozens of people through the doors of Haddington Bowling Club each week since it was set up in 2018.
On March 16, the group toasted its anniversary with a special cake made to mark the occasion.
Elaine Gale, founder of Our Community Kitchen, said the number of people attending the group was continuing to grow, with more than 150 joining them on a weekly basis.
She said: “We are currently developing another community garden at Tynebank Resource Centre in the Nungate, where we will be growing a lot more fruit and vegetables that we will use in our cooking.
“We are also developing this site into a beautiful space for people who use Tynebank and our wider community, with the amazing help of our garden co-ordinator, local contractors and volunteers.”
Plans are also being drawn up for an open day.
